This fun amethyst has a name, and we call her Miss Skunk because she is a skunk amethyst. She comes from Uruguay where they find fantastic amethyst which seems to be darker with smaller crystals. Miss Skunk is not for sale but to be enjoyed and admired by everyone who comes to visit her. This skunk amethyst is rare and have only seen it at market a coupe of times. Come on in and see her in person.

This Grassy Mountain Petrified Wood is near to our hearts here at Stewart’s Gem Shop. Dudley Stewart discovered and named this wood, and had the claim on it back in the early 1940’s. This wood has a lot of respect here in the Rock World and there is very little left.

Brent Stewart has a passion for educating kids of “all ages” about rocks from our Gem State. Brent shows off many local jaspers and agates along with opals. Of course, the Star Garnets steal the show.

The fossils are always a big hit and we have some great fossils to show off. Hard to say how many school classrooms, retirement centers he has been to, but he loves going and they love having him. Teachers call Brent…his education pack is ready.

We are famous for our Star Garnets here at Stewart’s. Dudley Stewart discovered our State Gem Stone and how to cut the garnet to reveal the stunning star. Not an easy stone to cut, so feel honored if you have learned. Here at Stewart’s we are cutting star garnets on a daily schedule and it never gets old. We offer Star Garnets in rings, pendants and earrings all set in 14k white or yellow gold and even in sterling silver. For those of you who would like the rough material or just a finished stone, we also offer that as well.
